Positive Heritage and its Impact on Spreading Story Culture and its Place in the Works of the Writer Ahmed Nasr

Abstract

This research examines the phenomenon of employing positive heritage in the short-story and novelistic output of the Libyan writer Ahmed Nasr, seeking to reveal how he transformed elements of the Libyan rural and desert environment, including customs, traditions, beliefs, and archetypal figures such as the shepherd, the dervish, and the pilgrim (al-hajj), into vivid narrative material that pulses with life within his short stories and novels. Ahmed Nasr did not treat heritage as rigid documentary material to be merely reported as it stood; rather, he drew inspiration from it and reshaped it to serve the artistic construction of the story and the novel, turning the village and the desert into two interacting spaces alongside human beings, animals, and place, and weaving all of this into a coherent narrative fabric.

The research adopts the descriptive-analytical method, tracing Ahmed Nasr's narrative texts, describing the manifestations of heritage within them, and then interpreting their cultural and artistic significance, while also revealing the impact of this employment of heritage on disseminating Libyan culture and elevating the standing of the short story in his work.
