Abstract

 The descriptive method is considered the most widely used among scientific research methodologies due to its comprehensiveness, flexibility, and ability to study reality. It is more accurate and realistic than the historical method and easier to apply than the experimental method, as it does not require high-level resources for implementation in real settings. This has led most studies and research across various scientific and educational fields to adopt this method.

In addition, the diversity of approaches that fall under the descriptive method—such as the comprehensive survey, case study, and correlational study—has added great value and importance to its application. This significance becomes evident through the steps of the descriptive method, which include formulating the problem or phenomenon under study, setting hypotheses, and collecting information through various means such as interviews, observation, and questionnaires.

Despite its advantages, the descriptive method is not free from some limitations, which, however, do not diminish its importance and role in scientific research. Among these limitations is the researcher’s occasional inability to control variables, which may negatively affect the results, as well as the possibility of researcher bias toward certain opinions or suggestions influenced by personal inclinations and preferences, thus compromising Lacking objectivity.
