The Reality of Applying Quality Management Principles in Higher Education Institutions

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the reality of implementing quality management principles in higher education institutions, identify the most prominent structural, administrative, and human challenges that hinder their optimal application, and propose a framework for developing academic and institutional performance. To achieve these objectives, the researcher adopted a descriptive-analytical approach. A structured questionnaire was developed as the primary data collection tool and distributed to a representative sample of faculty members, academic leaders, and administrative staff within the university environment under study. The study anticipates finding a moderate level of quality principles implementation, alongside significant obstacles related to the lack of specialized training programs for personnel and resistance to organizational change. The study recommends the necessity of fostering a culture of total quality and empowering quality assurance offices with adequate authority and resources to achieve continuous improvement.
