Libya's Geographical Location and its Impact on its International Relations

Abstract

Studying the geographical factor requires examining location, area, and borders. Geographical location is one of the most important factors influencing international relations, as it determines a state's strategic position, economic capacity, and national security. It also impacts its alliances and conflicts with other countries. Libya enjoys a highly significant geographical location in international relations. Situated in North Africa, it overlooks the Mediterranean Sea to the north and is bordered to the south by the Sahel countries. Libya lies between the Arab East and West, and between Africa and Europe, granting it a pivotal role in trade, migration, and politics. This topic was conceived to highlight Libya's geographical importance and the weight it has gained in international relations. The research problem lies in how Libya utilizes its location economically and politically, and its influence on public opinion both domestically and internationally. This study employs several methodologies, including the descriptive approach to provide insight into the geographical location and borders with neighboring countries, as well as the functional approach, which aims to study the state in terms of its economic and political relations with neighboring countries, the region, and the world .
